Youth Concerts

“It is up to us to help prepare future generations of musicians and audiences.”

 – Florence Kabot, President

Young People’s Concert Series

From the beginning, one of the Symphony’s goals was to promote the education and development of young musicians. We know how important music education is to developing young minds.

For 57 years, the Tulare County Symphony has performed special concerts in schools for youth throughout the county. Each year nearly 9,000 third and fifth grade students attend seven concerts presented in Visalia, Tulare and Porterville.

Before the concert, the Symphony sends information about the composers and the selections, as well as music-inspired games and multimedia links that teachers can use to prepare the students for the concert experience.

Because this is often the first live concert or theater experience these students have ever had, music director Bruce Kiesling introduces the instruments and explains the music.
